Chain-of-Command Board for the US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Dependable, WMEC 626
This Chain-of-Command Board for the US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Dependable, WMEC 626, is carved from California Redwood. After carving, it is hand sanded and stained to get the required color. The officer and crew names are engraved on brass plates which slide into the brass holders shown in the photo, so they can easily be changed out. The red and green colors indicate whether the crewman is on duty. The three insignia, crests and badges are carved in 3-D bas-relief or 2.5-D raised relief from High-Density-Urethane (HDU), painted with long-lasting sign enamels, and mounted on the board. The senior officres ewill have photos installed in the top three replaceable photo frames This plaque is clear-coated twice to protect against the marine environment.
