This recognition plaque honoring Commodores who commanded Destroyer Squadron 31 (DESRON 31) of the US Navy, based in Hawaii, is carved from Hawaiian Koa Wood. The names of the previous Commanders of DESRON 31 are engraved in brass plates. The current Commander has his/her photo mounted in the center under the glass plate. The US Navy Emblem and DESRON 31 Crest ( Motto is KE KOA O KE KAI - The Warriors of the Sea) are carved from High-Density-Urethane (HDU) in 3-D bas-relief and artist-brush painted with long-lasting sign enamels.
